DCA Says Lake County Housing Study Could Cost Millions of Dollars

In last Tuesday’s 3-1 adoption approval, during the public hearing for the Horizon 2030 Comprehensive Plan, another bit of fiction in the form of a housing study was added to the total plan (in addition to Commissioner Elaine Renick’s made-up South Lake Strategic Area Plan). In the objections, comments, and recommendations letter from the Department of Community Affairs (DCA), Lake County was told in objection 36 to produce the data to support a housing element. The requirement from the DCA was clear – the data had to “support by number, type, cost or rent, tenure and any other special housing need”, and the response “must be supported by appropriate data and analysis.”
